Quarterback
Rankings
Name                  Height  Weight   40 Time        College
1.  Vince Young  6'5  230   4.57      Texas

Strengths:  Incredible athletic ability.  Great size.  Amazing scrambler with the vision of a RB.  Has
good arm strength and a quick release.  Has improved his accuracy greatly in the last few years.
Completely took over the Rose Bowl.  But Texas on his back and carried them to victory.  Has tons
of upside.

Weaknesses:  Weird delivery.  Didn't play in a pro-style offense.  Mechanics are bad.  Hasn't had
much experience reading defenses.  Intelligence is questionable.  Needs 2 of 3 years to develop.
High bust factor.

How He Fits:  Top 10 pick.

2.  Matt Leinart    6'5  225    4.80      USC

Strengths:  Very accurate passer.  Shows great touch.  Very smart and has good intangibles.  A
team leader and proven winner.  Productive.  Great size and excellent mechanics.  Is NFL ready.

Weaknesses:  Doesn't have great arm strength.  Will loft the ball too much.  Seems to come off as
arrogant.  Played on an extremely talented team that took the pressure off him.

How He Fits:  Top 5 pick.

3.  Jay Cutler  6'3  224  4.77   Vanderbilt

Strengths:  Amazing arm strength.  Nice delivery and great accuracy.  Tough as nails.
Experienced and a true field general.  Good size.  As good mobility.  Durable.  Comes through in
the clutch.  Can make any throw on the field.  Great potential.

Weaknesses:  Mechanics are inconsistent.  Didn't win many games as a starter.  Struggles with
the deep ball touch.  The Gunslinger attitude gets him into trouble sometimes.

How He Fits:  Top 10 pick.

4.  Omar Jacobs  6'4  232  4.75  Bowling Green

Strengths:  Good arm strength.  Excellent size and frame.  Good athletic ability.  Accurate.  Can
throw on the run.  Good decision maker.  In 2004 threw 41 TDs and 4 INTS.  Lots of upside.

Weaknesses:  Played in the shotgun.  Awkward release and mechanics.  Rarely threw downfield.
Didn't have as good a season as he did in 2004.

How He Fits:  I don't think we are in the market for a QB right now.  Bill is supposively high on
Romo and we haven't seen much of Henson yet.  If we do decide to take a QB on the 1st day,
Jacobs would be a good option in the 2nd round.

5.  Brodie Croyle  6'3  205  4.87   Alabama

Strengths:  Great arm strength.  Smart player with top intangibles.  Knows how to lead an offense.
Shows great patience going through his reads.  Knows how to read a defense.  Good accuracy
and touch.  Has not even come close to reaching his potential.

Weaknesses:  Major injury concerns.  Missed 03' and 04' seasons with injuries.  Needs to add
some weight.  Doesn't have horrible mobility, but he is strictly a pocket passer.  Wasn't
tremendously productive as a senior.

How He Fits:  Solid option in the 3rd round if we want to invest a high pick on a QB.

6.  Charlie Whitehurst  6'5  223  4.70   Clemson

Strengths:  Excellent size.  Great arm strength.  Solid mechanics.  Durable 3 year starter.
Accurate on underneath as well as down the field throws.  Good upside.

Weaknesses:  Has been terribly inconsistent with his 2004 stats at 7 TD 17 INTs.  Doesn't make
the best decisions.  Not very mobile despite his good 40 time.  Holds onto the ball too long.

How He Fits:  Possible option in the 3rd round if he is still available.  Very similar to Bledsoe.  I
like Bledsoe, but I will be tired of a QB with no mobility after Bledsoe is done.

7.  Reggie McNeal  6'2  198  4.35   Texas A&M

Strengths:  Excellent athletic ability.  One of the top scramblers in college football.  Strong arm
and a quick release.  Throws well on the run.  Fairly productive as a passer.  Tons of upside.

Weaknesses:  Undersized in terms of height and weight. Doesn't read defenses very well.
Inconsistent as a passer.  Good scrambler, but he is no Michael Vick.  May not have the skill set to
be an NFL starter.

How He Fits:  Intriguing option in the 3rd round.  Developmental prospect who could make an
impact at QB or even WR.

8.  Bruce Gradkowski  6'1  217  4.59  Toledo

Strengths:  Outstanding production.  Is superbly accurate, especially on underneath passes.
Gamer who comes in during the clutch.  Outstanding athlete who can throw on the run and scramble.

Weaknesses:  Lacks great arm strength.  Played in wide open offense that inflated his stats.
Lacks great size.  Forces too many throws.  Lacks great upside.

How He Fits:  He would be a solid 5th round selection if we wanted to groom a solid backup QB,
may not have starting potential.

9.  Kellen Clemens  6'2  225  4.98  Oregon

Strengths:  Mature leader with top intangibles.  Displays great touch and accuracy.  Moves well
and can throw accurately on the run.

Weaknesses:   Lacks ideal height or arm strength.  Is inconsistent.  Has battled through some
injuries.  Probably won't get much better than he is.

How He Fits:  Solid mid-late round developmental signal caller.

10.  Darrell Hackney  5'11  239  4.89  UAB

Strengths:  Great arm strength.  Displays good touch and accuracy.  Can make any throw on the
field.  Decent athlete who is tough to bring down.  Has some upside.

Weaknesses:  Very short.  Doesn't read defenses well.  Footwork needs improvement.  Raw and
will need to sit and develop.  Has a high bust factor.

How He Fits:  I'm not a big fan of Hackney.  He is a solid 4th or 5th round option if we want
another developmental quarterback.

11.  Brett Basanez  6'1  220  4.75  Northwestern

Strengths:  Carried his team on his back through most of his career.  Tough and grity player with
a defensive mentality.  A major threat to scramble.  Tremendous passer outside the pocket.
Experienced four year starter.  Productive in 2005.

Weaknesses:   Lacks great size.  Arm strength is only average.  Accuracy is very inconsistent.
Technique is average at best.  Needs some development.  Does he have the tools to start in the
NFL?

How He Fits:  Another solid developmental quarterback.
